Canada became the first co-host nation to exit the 2026 World Cup  It was, in the end, a convincing victory by Morocco in Houston. Author | James Y Stadium | Houston Stadium Morocco, who struggled to find their rhythm during an ill-tempered first half, went ahead five minutes after the restart through Azzedine Ounahi. Ounahi swept home Achraf Hakimi's cut-back from a cleverly worked free kick after the Canada defence failed to close him down on the edge of the area. The Girona midfielder doubled his tally with eight minutes remaining, finishing a swift counter-attack to put the result beyond doubt. An increasingly comfortable victory was completed in stoppage time when Soufiane Rahimi slid his finish beneath goalkeeper Maxime Crépeau. It was a harsh outcome for Canada They had made the brighter start in Texas and could easily have been ahead inside the opening stages. Morocco now advance and move to within one victory of matching their historic run to the semi-finals at the 2022 Wo...

The co-hosts will face either the Netherlands or Morocco in Houston on Saturday, 4 July. Reaction after a pivotal moment in the history of Canadian soccer/football Watch | Highlights...

Co-hosts Canada start campaign with a draw Canada substitute Cyle Larin made an immediate impact as his late goal earned the co-hosts a point against Bosnia and Herzegovina in their opening match of the 2026 World Cup. Author | Liam C Stadium | Toronto Stadium Larin had been on the pitch for little more than two minutes when he spun brilliantly away from Tarik Muharemovic before drilling a shot beyond Nikola Vasilj, with the ball taking a slight deflection on its way in. It marked the first time Canada had avoided defeat at a World Cup finals, having lost all three matches in 1986 and then again in 2022. A closer look at what happened Before the match, both sets of fans marched to the stadium and created a fantastic (and more importantly friendly) atmosphere.  Bosnia, who reached the tournament after winning penalty shootouts against Wales and Italy in the qualifying play-offs, took the lead in the 21st minute in Toronto. Jovo Lukic scored his first international goal when he h...
