Friday at Tramlines Festival 2026 proved unforgettable as Fatboy Slim headlined an opening day that also featured a surprise grassroots appearance, performances across the city and glorious sunshine that set the tone for the weekend.

More than 38,000 music fans packed into Hillsborough Park as the festival got under way beneath clear skies, with a line-up that brought together global music stars, Sheffield favourites and the city's flourishing grassroots music scene.

The opening day featured standout performances across the site before Fatboy Slim brought the Sarah Nulty Main Stage to a memorable close. Earlier in the day, festivalgoers had enjoyed sets from Kaiser Chiefs, The Vaccines, The Coral and Vanessa Carlton.

Leadmill stage gives the bands of the future a platform

The Leadmill stage provided fantastic entertainment across that first day. Our favourite band was Westside Cowboy. They've been spoken about a lot recently and we loved their set.
