Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 review - 1

Unlike typical fantasy RPGs, it stands as a meticulously researched historical life simulator, set in 15th-century Bohemia. Here, peasants, townsfolk, and nobility occupy sharply defined roles, and the absence of magic or mythical creatures draws players into a grounded narrative of survival and societal challenge.

The protagonist, Henry, must rebuild his life after a catastrophic event leaves him destitute, thrusting him into a world where basic needs—food, shelter, and clothing—are constant preoccupations. His journey is deeply immersive, demanding active participation in simple tasks, such as brewing potions or forging weapons, each of which is intricately detailed. These activities aren’t simplified button presses but require methodical attention to detail, with players manipulating fire, time, and ingredients as part of the process.

The game excels in crafting a complex world, where appearance and social standing directly impact how others perceive and interact with you. Wearing dirty rags, for example, subjects Henry to disdain, while dressing well can open doors, though not if his attire is poorly maintained.

This emphasis on realism extends to the game’s stealth mechanics and crafting systems, where optimal outcomes depend on thoughtful choices and preparation. The game also offers an open-ended approach to quests—whether infiltrating a prison or clearing a name—encouraging exploration of multiple solutions, yet occasionally, poor progression mechanics create frustrating obstacles.

Despite these quirks, the game's intricate systems and the compelling historical narrative make for a rich experience, one that demands patience and a willingness to navigate its occasional technical hiccups. While it may not rival Red Dead Redemption in terms of sheer scale, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 remains a standout for those drawn to its demanding yet rewarding medieval realism.

The final verdict of this game

A fabulously detailed simulation of everything from potion-making to blacksmithing, with a spectacularly varied and specific perks list. The beautifully rendered Bohemian countryside offers an impressive sense of consequence to your actions.

We'd like to give this game 7.4 out of 10. It's definitely worth playing this game.
