Bournemouth 0 - 2 Liverpool
Three points closer to the title for Liverpool?
Liverpool extended their lead at the top of the Premier League to nine points, with Mohamed Salah’s brace proving the difference in a hard-fought victory over Bournemouth at a lively Vitality Stadium.
Salah’s two goals took his tally to 178 in the Premier League, moving him up to sixth place in the all-time rankings, surpassing Frank Lampard’s 177. The Egyptian forward opened the scoring on the half-hour mark with a confidently taken penalty, awarded after Lewis Cook was adjudged to have clipped Cody Gakpo’s heels.
Bournemouth, who had already claimed wins over Arsenal, Manchester City and Nottingham Forest this season, came close to taking the lead when Antoine Semenyo’s strike rebounded off the left post while the game was still goalless.
Salah eventually sealed the potentially crucial three points with a magnificent curled effort to make it 2-0.

The best reaction from Liverpool fans
Fraser said: I can’t overstate how important this win is. Bournemouth are no pushovers – they’ve beaten Arsenal and City at home and scored nine goals in their last two games. To go there, get the win, and keep a clean sheet is huge. Salah once again showed why he’s so crucial to us, and Alisson proved why he’s one of the best, if not the best, goalkeepers in the world. The defence was rock solid. A big result for the Reds – onwards and upwards!
Paul argued it was a great match: "Liverpool played well, and so did Bournemouth. But honestly, I think we were a bit fortunate to come away with the win."
Adam gave his thoughts: "That performance showed exactly why Liverpool are serious title contenders this season. They managed the game brilliantly, especially in the moments when Bournemouth were on top. The clean sheet against a dangerous side was a real positive, and Salah’s second goal was superb!"
Ian added: "I was expecting a much tougher contest, but Liverpool controlled large parts of the match. Szoboszlai had an off day and should have been subbed, and Alexander-Arnold was shaky again. Aside from that, I think Arne Slot will be pretty pleased with how it all played out."
