The main headlines came from from the fact that Phil Foden, Cole Palmer and Trent Alexander-Arnold will all not be playing a part in Thomas Tuchel's 26-man squad.

Harry Maguire has also not been included

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has also been left out, with the 33-year-old saying he is "shocked and gutted" at the decision.

In a post on Instagram, he confirmed: "I was confident I could have played a major part this summer for my country after the season I've had. I've been left shocked and gutted by the decision. I wish the players all the best."

Maguire has also been a threat from an attacking sense this season and scored a dramatic winner for United against Liverpool at Anfield

Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins is included - after helping his side win the Europa League  alongside, more interestingly, Al-Ahli striker Ivan Toney. The former Brentford forward has scored 32 goals in 32 games in the Saudi Arabian league this season. He'll certainly give Tuchel a different option this summer.

Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White has missed out, despite being the top-scoring English player in the Premier League this season, alongside Watkins and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, on 14 goals. Gibbs-White will perhaps feel that he had done enough for a player in the squad after a fantastic end to the season.

Manchester City's Foden and Chelsea's Palmer - both attacking midfielders who can also play as forwards - have had inconsistent seasons and it perhaps shouldn't come as too much of surprise that they haven't been called up.
