Games Review - Sniper Elite: Resistance

Image
A very fun game, even if it has some flaws Keep reading for more of our thoughts on Sniper Elite: Resistance Author - Liam C For many people, Sniper Elite: Resistance couldn't have been released at a better time. This is a game that occasionally has the feels of a Hollywood blockbuster. This is the first spin-off of the Sniper Elite series that doesn’t feature zombies, aiming to capture the magic of Sniper Elite 5 from 2022. You play as a new recruit working alongside French Resistance characters from Sniper Elite 5 as you explore the countryside. The game feels like an expansion pack, with familiar enemy behaviors and mechanics, but that’s not a downside—Sniper Elite 5 was a significant quality improvement, and Resistance builds on that with engaging environments for long-range sniping and guerrilla warfare. There are only seven main missions, but they are all large and took me about 90 minutes to complete. The initial exploration of a level usually involves testing various sy...

Movie Review - Nosferatu

Image
An almost perfect masterpiece Nosferatu, a remake of FW Murnau’s 1922 German expressionist silent film Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror, is an unsettlingly atmospheric and richly realised work.  There’s something about the macabre sensuality and mossy, crepuscular gloom of this retelling of the vampire legend that leaves a mark on the audience. It’s not so much a viewing experience as a kind of haunting. We loved almost every second.  Author - Liam C Your views Sophie T told us: "The cinematography is amazing, earning an almost perfect 10/10. The film seamlessly transitions between the oppressive, shadow-laden atmosphere of Orlok’s castle and the vibrant, colorful world of Wisborg. This contrast is not just visually striking but also emotionally resonant, capturing the dichotomy of darkness and beauty that defines the story. Every frame feels meticulously crafted, from the eerie silhouettes to the radiant light of fleeting hope." Liam C also gave his thoughts: "This is...

What can be expected from the Nintendo Switch 2?

Image
Are you excited for this console? Eight years after the launch of the Nintendo Switch, we finally have an official glimpse of its successor, the Nintendo Switch 2.  Author - Amy W In a short but exciting trailer, Nintendo unveiled its next-generation console, teasing a 2025 release window. However, details such as pricing and specifications remain under wraps. The new console appears to be a fresh evolution of Nintendo’s original hybrid design. It retains the familiar features, including detachable Joy-Con controllers and the flexibility to play in handheld mode, as a standalone screen with detached Joy-Cons or external controllers, or in docked mode using a redesigned dock for connection to a TV or external display. It is believed the console won't be as powerful as the PS5 or Xbox Series X, but will have more RAM than the Xbox Series S, which makes it more comparable to the Steam Deck. We probably won't receive any official information about the specifications until the...

Denis Law: A tribute to a football legend

Image
Everyone at SuperNewsAffiliate was saddened by the news that former Scotland, Manchester United and Manchester City striker Denis Law has died at the age of 84. He is the only Scottish player to have won the Ballon d'Or. Denis Law had a fantastic career and many older fans of Manchester United still refer to him as The King of the Stretford End. Author - Sophie T  Tributes One poster on the Red Cafe Manchester United forum said : "Well, I woke up to this news and was devastated. Needless to say, I have had something in my eye nearly all day. He was fast, but really, he was quick. The very definition. So much so, that he had dozens of goals chalked off for offside because he was far too fast for the linesman. He would admonish them with a disapproving finger wag and a grin, and the refs all took it in good humour, followed by a ripple of laughter through the crowd." Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville posted on Instagram: "Rest in Peace Denis. A great fo...

Nightfall: Kingdom Frontier TD Review

Image
It's time to explore a mobile phone game that has just been released... With a simple but polished art style, Nightfall is a tower defence game where instead of just building turrets, you’ll also be maneuvering a hero around the map, attacking mobs, and rallying freshly spawned troops. Author - Amy W   As is traditional for the genre, enemies come in waves, giving you time to build and shore up your arsenal in anticipation of the next onslaught. You can also spend gold on upgrading your HQ, defensive turrets, buildings that generate more income, and barracks to train soldiers. We have found it quite an enjoyable but it does have its flaws.  Gaming news and stories Gamer reviews Shaun Rowlands posted: "Awesome game I would really love to get into it but one major thing which is ridiculously frustrating is you never feel like you are able to upgrade enough because you don't get enough coin to start and the waves finish before you get to a satisfactory level.... Please pl...

Image

Author - Sophie T  The 17-year-old was in unstoppable form as he raced into a 4-0 lead, and despite Van Gerwen getting three sets on the board, he never really threatened a comeback and was always in Littler's rear mirror. You can read about his actual career by reading European Super Football's pro...

Image
The Haçienda was an iconic Manchester nightclub  It became famous during the Madchester years of the 1980s and early 1990s. What made it so famous though? One of the earliest was the German EBM band Liaisons Dangereuses, which played there on 7 July 1982.  The Smiths performed there three times in 1983. Image
Luke Littler 5 - 2 Nathan Aspinall Luke Littler stormed into the semi-finals of the World Darts Championship with an impressive victory over Nathan Aspinall. Author - Liam C Having survived a scare earlier in the tournament, Littler looked unfazed in his quarter-final clash, starting strongly and maintaining his high standards throughout, averaging over 100 once again.  Although Aspinall had moments where he kept pace, he struggled to find the consistency needed to trouble last year’s runner-up and missed a few crucial chances. Littler’s win sets up a semi-final showdown with Stephen Bunting. Almost everyone loves Luke Watching Luke Littler is so electrifying, so raw and captivating, that it’s easy to forget you’re witnessing an actual sporting contest with an opponent and a finish line. Nathan Aspinall’s rare moments of influence came only when Littler momentarily got swept up in his own momentum, missing a few doubles and briefly losing his edge, giving Aspinall a fleeting – ...
