Super News Affiliate is now the best place for Women's Football news! The first of many articles is reaction to England's 1-0 over Spain Author - Amy W England produced a commanding performance at Wembley to secure a well-earned victory over world champions Spain in the Women's Nations League. It was the first meeting between the two sides since Spain triumphed in the 2023 Women’s World Cup final , but this time, Sarina Wiegman’s team made sure to turn the tables. Games Review - PGA Tour 2k25

Image
Not quite a hole in one but this still delivers a great game of golf 2K Games’ latest sports sim might not be the best-looking or most realistic golf game out there, but it certainly delivers a fun and satisfying round. Author - Jamie P For a brief spell, officially licensed PGA Tour games were like buses – you wait for ages, then two show up at once. In 2023, we got both PGA Tour 2K23 and EA Sports’ vastly superior PGA Tour, but that surge of competition didn’t last long. The lukewarm reception (and presumably underwhelming sales) meant it’s taken nearly three years for Take-Two to return with a new entry. Before that, EA Sports had the PGA Tour licence locked down from 1990 to 2015, before Take-Two took a swing with PGA Tour 2K21. The plan was never to churn out yearly sequels, giving Canadian developer HB Studios the time to refine things between releases. Could 2025 be an exciting year for video games? Author - Michael Haldsworth Back in the side after missing the opening win against Pakistan due to concussion, Ravindra played a classy knock of 112 off 105 balls, steering the Black Caps to their modest target of 237 with 3.5 overs to spare. The chase didn’t start smoothly—Will Young was bowled by Taskin Ahmed in the first over, and Kane Williamson fell cheaply for five during a fiery spell from Bangladesh’s seamers. But Ravindra, alongside Devon Conway (30), steadied the innings with a composed 57-run stand for the third wicket. Ravindra’s departure, with just 36 runs needed, ended a 129-run partnership with Tom Latham, who contributed a crucial 55. Their stand effectively sealed the win, knocking both Bangladesh and hosts Pakistan out of the tournament while confi...

How has Pokémon captured the attention of different generations?

Image
Why has Pokémon captured the attention of different generations? Pokémon was introduced to the world in 1996 and quickly captured everyone's attention. Author - Josh D Within a few years, many Pokémon video games had been released alongside the TV series and merchandise lines. Who can forget the trading cards? Its popularity exploded, and it very rarely strayed from the attention of many. Similar franchises (hello Digimon) fell away from the people's attention, Pokémon has remained popular. Why is that? Let's explore some of the reasons.  The iconic video games The first entries into the video games series were Pokémon Red and Blue. Gamers all over the world became obsessed and by 1998, they had sold over ten million units in Japan. Eventually this enormous popularity was replicated in the United States and the United Kingdom, perhaps showing that this wasn't a mere passing fad and possibly something taking over the world. The video games didn't start the series...

Agnatius Paasi, Harry Robertson (twice), Alex Walmsley, Jack Welsby and Jon Bennison added to the tally in the second half to seal a commanding win. Cricket: Australia beat England by five wickets

Image
England 351-8 (50 overs) Australia 356-5 (47.3 overs) England’s Champions Trophy campaign got off to a disastrous start as Australia pulled off a remarkable chase of 352, cancelling out Ben Duckett’s superb 165 in Lahore. Author- Michael Haldsworth Opener Duckett helped England post 351-8 – the highest total in Champions Trophy history – but Josh Inglis stole the show with a stunning unbeaten 120 off just 86 balls, steering Australia to victory with five wickets in hand and 15 balls to spare. It was the highest total England have ever failed to defend in one-day internationals, made even more painful by the fact they had their fierce rivals struggling at 136-4 at one stage. From there, Yorkshire-born Inglis, batting at number five, shared a crucial 146-run stand in 116 balls with Alex Carey, dragging Australia back into contention. Carey, who was given a lifeline when dropped on 49, eventually fell for 69 with 70 still needed from 51 deliveries, but Inglis took control. He punished...

Games Review - Avowed

Image
Avowed is a return to that traditional action RPG comfort food we know and love.  Set in the fantasy universe of Pillars of Eternity, this is a game that’s filled with all out favourite RPG cliches. Author - Amy W It's like standing around a campfire with my party members to exchange dark backstories and unresolved traumas, and looting every single slain enemy before their corpse has even begun to cool.  The writing, world-building, and open-world maps are all quite good, and running around lobbing deadly spells at reanimated skeletons and violent lizardfolk to claim shiny new gear is as entertaining as you might expect, if not exactly breaking new ground. That’s a bit of a trend, actually: Avowed draws so much from the Skyrims and Dragon Ages of the past that it ends up an overall unsurprising adventure that has few distinctive ideas to call its own. Image
Hull KR ground out a win over Wakefield but suffered an injury blow They edged past the newly-promoted Wakefield Trinity but suffered a major setback as Man of Steel Mikey Lewis hobbled off with an ankle injury. Wakefield hit back before the break, with Max Jowitt slotting a penalty before Tom Johnstone finished superbly in the corner to bring them level. It was a dramatic ending to the match as Hull KR hung on Lewis then powered over to restore Hull KR’s lead early in the second half, but his joy was short-lived as he picked up an ankle injury in the process, caught awkwardly under a tackler. Wakefield refused to go away, and Oliver Pratt dived over late on to set up a tense finish, but Jowitt’s conversion attempt drifted wide, denying the hosts a shot at golden point extra time. Lewis battled on...

Author- Michael Haldsworth Chasing a modest 229, Gill anchored the innings with a composed 101 off 129 balls, guiding India home with 3.3 overs to spare. India dominated from the outset in Dubai, reducing Bangladesh to 35-5 inside nine overs. Shami struck twice early, while Axar Patel’s double-wicket burst had the Tigers reeling. A slip-up from Rohit Sharma, who dropped a straightforward chance at slip, denied Patel a hat-trick. Image
A glorious show was put on by Maribou State as they return to the live music scene.  For those fans packing out venues across the UK, these gigs have come hot on the heels of their newest album, Hallucinating Love. A great chance to see the group work their magic in real-time. Author - Josh D Maribou State in Glasgow tonight. I I was just a casual fan, but they put on a great show. Definite recommend! Rugby League: Leeds Rhinos 12 - 14 Wakefield Trinity

Image
Wakefield Trinity make a triumphant return to Super League The away side held off a late Leeds Rhinos fightback to claim victory at Headingley. Despite a tense finale, Max Jowitt’s first-half brace and Mason Lino’s opportunistic score proved enough to secure the win. Author - Oliver W In a match punctuated by frequent video referee interventions, Wakefield took time to find their rhythm but struck first in the 22nd minute. A clever cross-field kick from Lino was kept in play by Tom Johnstone, allowing Jowitt and Corey Hall to combine before Jowitt crossed the line. The video referee confirmed the try, and Jowitt added the extras. Moments later, Jowitt doubled his tally, finishing off a surging run and slick pass from Jake Trueman. This time, he failed to convert, but Wakefield’s momentum was building. They appeared to have a third try in quick succession when Oli Pratt darted over, only for the video referee to rule it out for a foul by Mike McMeeken on Brodie Croft. Leeds’ defens...

Football news: Amad set for a period out injured

This could be a huge blow to United's hopes of winning the FA Cup or Europa League Manchester United winger Amad Diallo is set for a prolonged period on the sidelines after suffering ankle ligament damage. Author - Liam C The 22-year-old Ivory Coast international confirmed the injury via Instagram on Saturday. While United are still assessing the full extent of the problem, Diallo is expected to be out for several weeks, with the possibility that he may not feature again this season. His absence is a significant blow, as the winger has been one of the few positives in an otherwise turbulent campaign for United, scoring six goals in his last 14 appearances.
