Gaming: The greatest tracks across the entire Mario Kart series

Image
What’s your favourite track? Ahead of the upcoming release of Mario Kart World on the Nintendo Switch 2 , we thought we'd explore some of our favourite tracks from the iconic series. Author - Josh D 5. Waluigi Pinball (Nintendo DS) Before the release of this title, we had no idea that Waluigi was a pinball aficionado either. This is a colourful track with narrow, curved paths that resemble lanes inside a pinball machine. Our favourite section is the wide open area filled with round bumpers that racers fight desperately to avoid. 4. Rainbow Road (Nintendo 64) Throughout the entire series, gamers have grown to both love and loathe Rainbow Road and its many adaptations. Our favourite version is from Mario Kart 64. Like all the others, it feels like something of an endurance race. However, the reward for finishing first (especially on 150cc) definitely gives you a sense of accomplishment. However, details such as pricing and specifications remain under wraps. The new console appears to be a fresh evolution of Nintendo’s original hybrid design. It retains the familiar features, including detachable Joy-Con controllers and the flexibility to play in handheld mode, as a standalone screen with detached Joy-Cons or external controllers, or in docked mode using a redesigned dock for connection to a TV or external display. It is believed the console won't be as powerful as the PS5 or Xbox Series X, but will have more RAM than the Xbox Series S, which makes it more comparable to the Steam Deck. We probably won't receive any official information about the specifications until the...

Image
Let's explore the history of handheld gaming Back in the 1990s and 2000s, Nintendo's GameBoy and DS range of consoles were the kings of handheld gaming. They offered a gaming experience. Author - Sophie T  However, from around 2010, the smartphone in your pocket became capable of delivering a similar gaming experience. This has resulted in a change in gaming habits. The lack of handheld consoles since that time speaks volumes. What games are people playing on their smartphones? From a developer's perspective, the beauty of creating a game for these devices is that almost everyone has one in their pocket. It has meant developers can look to make a game that has an audience outside of the traditional gaming market.  The likes of Angry Birds have become massive across the world.
