England produced a commanding performance at Wembley to secure a well-earned victory over world champions Spain in the Women's Nations League.
It was the first meeting between the two sides since Spain triumphed in the 2023 Women’s World Cup final, but this time, Sarina Wiegman’s team made sure to turn the tables.
Jess Park struck the decisive goal in the first half, reacting quickest to a rebound from Alessia Russo’s effort and making the most of England’s dominant spell.
After a 1-1 draw with Portugal on Friday, England had faced criticism for recent displays, but this was a performance far closer to their best—organised in defence, dynamic in attack, and proving they can still go toe-to-toe with the world’s elite.

Chelsea’s Lauren James was a standout performer, while full-backs Niamh Charles and Lucy Bronze were instrumental in keeping Spain at bay with crucial tackles.
Spain had their moments, with Salma Paralluelo threatening late on and Lucia Garcia rattling the crossbar in the first half, but England’s resilience ensured the victory.
The result strengthens their position in the Women's Nations League and marks a significant step forward as they build towards Euro 2025.
