Football news: Amad set for a period out injured
This could be a huge blow to United's hopes of winning the FA Cup or Europa League
Manchester United winger Amad Diallo is set for a prolonged period on the sidelines after suffering ankle ligament damage.
The 22-year-old Ivory Coast international confirmed the injury via Instagram on Saturday. While United are still assessing the full extent of the problem, Diallo is expected to be out for several weeks, with the possibility that he may not feature again this season.

His absence is a significant blow, as the winger has been one of the few positives in an otherwise turbulent campaign for United, scoring six goals in his last 14 appearances.
Meanwhile, England midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, 19, has also picked up an injury and will be unavailable for Sunday’s Premier League clash against Tottenham.
Reaction
Amad posted on his Instagram: "Extremely disappointed to be writing this message in such a crucial time of the season. Unfortunately, I will be out for some time with an injury. I will come back stronger than ever! Time to support the boys from the outside. Still loads to play for 🫶🏾❤️
He published the same message on his Twtter/X account. You can see by responses on both accounts that United fans feel sorry for the player and are concerned about the impact this will have on the rest of their campign.

A difficult week for the United boss
In addition to injuries to injuries for Amad and Mainoo, United are without Luke Shaw, Mason Mount, Altay Bayindir and Jonny Evans while Manuel Ugarte is also doubtful for the trip to Spurs. There's all the long term injury to Lisandro Martinez.
One positive came with the news that Martinez's knee surgery was successful. The defender sustained an anterior cruciate ligament injury against Crystal Palace earlier this month and is expected to miss the rest of the season.
Martinez wrote on Instagram: "Today, after going through several stormy days where I allowed myself to feel and accept my sadness, helplessness, insecurities, fears, and a deep emotional imbalance, I am reconnecting with my essence and my values, which help me see things from a kinder and more positive perspective.
