What types of college courses are out there?

Although there are lots of college courses to choose from, this can mean choosing the right course for you can be overwhelming and confusing! We recently examined one of the newest qualifications, known as T Levels, and the interesting opportunities that they can provide you with,

The most traditional post-16 qualifications are A Levels. This is a study programme that will appeal to students who have enjoyed academic teaching and learning in schools and are comfortable and successful with examinations as the main form of assessment.

Then there's Vocational courses. For those on this type of programme, they will find that they need to use practical and theoretical learning to help you develop work-related skills and technical understanding.

What about apprenticeships?

An apprenticeship is a real job where you learn, gain experience and get paid. By the end of an apprenticeship, you'll have the right skills and knowledge needed for your chosen career.

Common reasons why many struggle to pick their next steps

They may be aware of the career options available but struggle to determine which one is the right fit for you.

In some cases, they might not have a full understanding of the careers out there, meaning you need extra guidance to explore your options. For others, only a handful of careers seem appealing, leaving them uncertain about which path to take.

College's from across the United Kingdom and beyond will have a strong social media presence that will give you an indication of the student and insitution experience. 

Speak with a careers advisor 

 If someone is unsure about the career options available, they could start by speaking to a careers advisor or a teacher. These professionals can provide guidance and help them explore the different paths open to them.
